In a heart-stopping PSL final, Islamabad United etched their name in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history, defeating the Multan Sultans with a last-ball victory. The United pulled off a stunning victory, showcasing true resolve and determination against the odds.

On a pitch that heavily favored spin, Imad Wasim turned in a career-defining performance for Islamabad, taking a sensational five-wicket haul (5-23). Captain Shadab Khan contributed with three key wickets (3-32), stifling the Sultans and restricting them to 159-9.

“We might not have played flawlessly, but great teams find a way to win,” a jubilant Shadab Khan, Islamabad United captain, remarked.

Islamabad’s chase got off to a flying start thanks to Martin Guptill’s 50. However, Multan’s spinners fought back, leaving Islamabad teetering. Yet, with nerves of steel, Mohammad Wasim Jr. (19 not out) and Naseem Shah (17) delivered a thrilling finish, guiding Islamabad to their third PSL title (2016, 2018, 2024).

“Taking five wickets in the final and staying in with the bat…a whole new experience,” Player of the Match Wasim said. “We should have won earlier, but I’m happy Hunain sealed the deal.”

For Multan, it was a heartbreaking loss, their second consecutive narrow defeat in a PSL final. Despite dominating the group stage, they couldn’t close in the clutch moments.

“Imad was the difference between the teams tonight,” Multan’s skipper, Mohammad Rizwan, admitted. “But our boys played well, congratulations to Islamabad. It was an incredible game.”
